Tony Hawk Pro-Skater 4: Can you use cheats in career mode?

I am having trouble completing a goal in career mode on Tony Hawk 4 (on Xbox) and was wondering if it was possible to use cheats in career mode? I enter the cheats and then they work in free skate, but not in career. Am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible?

   i think you can only use unlock all items, the perfect grind cheat, and the perfect manuels cheat
