   He spent his formative years riding Okemo Mountain and Bear Mountain, small ski resorts found in Ludlow, Vermont, and the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.

   Southern California gets lots of snow (sometimes). They also make lots of snow. I’ve been surfing in the morning and skiing in the afternoon in So Cal.

   He skateboarded first I believe, and Southern California generally has both beach and mountains within a driving distance. You can surf and ski in the same day if you wanted.
