Backside airs on vert are easier. I learned frontside airs yesterday. I can get the pop and some air but im still not comfortable enough to go fast enough into it to go over the coping. . (its an 9ft vert bowl). ill give it a few days. . . ~chick skater~
@penderag0n u right
@jizzy2k
even if the fall might often be less painfull in vert since you just slide down (if the pipe is slippery enough) it still takes more balls, the proof: go to a skatepark, then go to the street section, count how many skaters, usually 50 or so if it’s not an enormous skatepark, then go to the vert section, now count the riders actually dropping in and riding the vert, mabey 3-4 riders, 6 tops, vert is SCARY!
i can make huge ass bs and fakie airs melon grab, but i dont manage to maek a ollie to get them real high. .
@jizzy2k Have you actually skated a vert ramp? because falling to flat from 15+ feet in the air is not comfortable.
@ernestrebel are ollie necessary? i’ve seen jason adams do them and he seems to go over the coping. would ollie-ing make a sudden difference w/ backside as well? they didn’t really explain much of that. i usually skate street stuff so i feel like they’re missing out on mentioning this stuff.
@victorpalles i skated with him at venice, hes rlly good without pads on too
@RVCAXD ITS BUCKY LASEK WHAT YOU WANT?? XD
@ernestrebel street you eat concrete
Vert you slide down a big yellow slide
I always do this with my front hand, I guess thats bad then. . .
It takes way bigger balls to go vert than flat! Falling from an Ollie on the sidewalk sucks, falling from 25 feet up in the air breaks yer legs. I know. It’s in the blood!
The best way to learn this is like they said, during kickturns just grab the board, lift and lead, after a few try’s you’ll get off the wall. then go higher and do the same. Copeing helps for pop off effect. The hardest thing Is when you get some good air and you have to bail, ya gotta run it out and its bloody hard to do un
i think that those videos are good way to reborn the vertskate
@henkinouno Yes, excellent advice. You have to pull your legs in toward your body, not many people mention that.
The problem with most pros explaining tricks is that they don’t know how the trick is actually done. . they got so much talent that they just do the trick, hence the trick tips are usually pretty bad. What you have to think of when doing a frontside air: 1. start by doing early grabs while leaning a bit more over your front leg. 2. Ollie (on vert) up, not out, and only pull your legs in. 3. pull in your rear leg, when you start learning you have to do this with more effort than you think.
yes but you should ollie into it if u take it to the mini pipe. try to get fs ollies down if u dont already.
i can do fs airs but i cant tuckknee or nosebone. . ive been trying so hard for the longest time and i still cant get em like at 0:42
@tuksedoken yeah you could but theres not vert on mini ramps so it’s kinda a ollie grab so idk
hey can you also do this on a minipipe?
@newerawearer wtf?
it takes alot of balls to do what vert skaters do respect
wow I landed it my first try
@circask8er002
in contrast to old school, duh
@newerawearer hahaha they arent “modern skaters”
@Sk8rbro500 Tuck those knees, boy! Grab that board and PULL!
Yes!! Did my first one today : )!!! Never felt so freaking cool!
